Weekend Preview 01.23.20
The Barrhead Bombers Hockey Club collected a single win out of three games played last weekend, besting the Cold Lake Hornets 5-2 at the Energy Centre. Unfortunately for the Bombers, the three points didn't suffice to maintain them in fourth place, and have fallen to the final spot in the Provincial Division.
Barrhead faces a very tough challenge this weekend against No. 1 Edson Aeros. The club will open a three-game series at Repsol Place before playing Game 2 at the Barrhead Agrena, and capping off the weekend with Game 3 back in Edson. The Aeros have yet to lose at home with a perfect 12-0-0 record in Repsol Place.
Their road record stands strong as well with a 13-3-0 mark. The Aeros are the highest scoring team in the division while the Bombers come in third as far as scoring. Barrhead has struggled mightily on the road with a 2-15-0 record.
Dmitro Kobylnyk has risen to the top of the Bombers scoring list having passed Raf Lambert Dodginghorse, who led the entire first half of the season, and also passed Stran Backfat Redcrow.
Kobylnyk now has 16G-12A-28P, and he will need to tap into that production in order to put up a fighting chance. Edson has won all four prior meetings against the Bombers, though Barrhead has been able to score at least three goals in four of the three games.
