Joey McEwan named new Bombers bench boss
Just three games into the season Barrhead Bombers have a new head coach. Dave Hyrsky stepped away after last weekend as the Bombers won their third straight game opening the door for new head coach Joey McEwan.
A native of Kelowna, British Columbia, McEwan will make his WSHL coaching debut tonight when the Bombers take on the Vegreville Vipers.
At age 32 McEwan has plenty of Junior hockey experience having played Junior B in the KIJHL before moving up to play Junior A in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and British Columbia Hockey League. McEwan went on to play college hockey first at Marian University (NCAA Division III) then Arizona State University (ACHA Division 2).
As a coach McEwan has a wide range of experience that includes youth hockey to the CJHL. Recently the former defenceman worked with the OCN Blizzard – a team he also played for – in marketing and as an assistant coach.
The OCN Blizzard would welcome Joey McEwan as Corporate Sales & Marketing Manager, Joey played for the Blizzard in the early 2000’s. Joey will also be joining Coach Keane as an Assistant Coach. https://t.co/NhlPCYPEYE
