Introducing Assistant Coach Chance Vanberg

by Charlie Manning

The Barrhead Bombers are excited to announce Chance Vanberg as assistant coach for the 2023-2024 CAJHL season

Chance was born in Swan Hills, AB but spent a large part of his time in Barrhead while he was younger so it became his second home. In 2021, Chance and his girlfriend made Barrhead their home

Chance started playing minor hockey in Rocky Mountain House, From midget he went on to various camps and tryouts and secured a spot to be a goaltender for team Alberta in 2015.

From there he was invited to various NCAA scouting camps and a month long NCAA prospects camp at Princeton University where he was coached by Tony Granato (Detroit Redwings Assistant Coach at the time)

He was then offered a position in the training camp for The University of New Hampshire with a scholarship. Unfortunately, due to injuries he was not able to pursue the scholarship.

He has always had  love for hockey and while he was playing he was mentoring younger players and helping younger teams learn the game.

Once he couldn't play much anymore and recovered from injuries, he focused on helping players with skills and coaching.

"I am honored to have been offered a position with the Bombers and am looking forward to being a part of the team!"
