The Barrhead Bombers Hockey Club will finish the 2019 year with a record of 4W-20L-1OTW-0OTL, and dropping three straight at the WSHL Showcase. The stat line leaves the club at the bottom of the Provincial Division standings just six points away from the Cold Lake Hornets.
The Bombers were never really able to find their stride during this first half of the 2019-2020 campaign and often relied on the efforts of Brandon Lakusta, Ian Sotlar, and Liam Donnelly. However, the three netminders combined faced just under one thousand shots and were unable to keep up with the demands.
The Bombers earned wins against the Cold Lake Hornets and Meadow Lake Mustangs while the best point of the year, for Barrhead, continues to be their back-to-back wins over the Hornets to open the season. The opening wins did not foreshadow current scoring woes for the Bombers as they managed 19 goals in two games.
The goal-scoring department is led by Raf Lambert Dodginghorse who has 13 goals but hasn't found the back of the net in seven games. Stran Backfat Redcrow is the leader in overall points with 22, and is currently on a four-game point drought.
Although Barrhead is fifth in the division, the team places third in goals with 84 goals in favor but is No. 1 in goals against with 140.
Barrhead is 50 goals shy of the second highest scoring team, Hinton, and 86 away from the Edson Aeros. Refer to the standings below.
The Bombers will continue the regular season and make a push toward higher seeding with back-to-back games against the Meadow Lake Mustangs on Jan. 10 -11, and will have a third game on the 12th versus the Edson Aeros.
The Barrhead Bombers Hockey Club would like to wish you a very Happy New Year!
